Today I want to share my incredible story of how I met the King of the Universe, as I came face to face with the Lord Jesus Christ.  I want to explain what led up to this life changing meeting, what my life was like before I met Him, how He changed me, and what my life is like now that I know Him.  

A Works Gospel

I grew up in a works Gospel as the church I attended taught me that I could earn my salvation, my way into Heaven.  So I went out into the world to execute this works Gospel.  I went to school and got a great education.  I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Government and History from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  I was accepted into graduate school at Georgetown University, one of the finest schools in the country.  I graduated and received a Master's Degree in Government and Politics.  Now I had the great education I needed to solve all the world's problems, and earn my salvation, my way into Heaven.  I specialized in international relations and I was going to be a great diplomat, and solve all the world's problems.  

Earning my Salvation

After I received my Master's Degree, I was able to obtain a job in government. Unfortunately, the job was in management and I could not utilize my education and be productive and successful and accomplish anything. I worked in management for several years and I became increasingly disillusioned and frustrated, as I could not accomplish much, and I could not earn my salvation.  I became so frustrated that I lost my peace and joy in life.  Life became so miserable for me that I could not relax and enjoy life.  I went on a massive campaign to change jobs, to get a job in my field and utilize my education, accomplish something and be successful.  I went to a professional job placement firm and hired them to help me change careers and find the job I wanted.  I paid them a great deal of money to help me write my resume so I could attract new employers,  I hit the job market hard, and sent my brand new resume out every time I found a job that interested me.  The campaign was a total failure as I could not even get a single interview.  I was totally frustrated and miserable and I had absolutely no peace and joy in my life.  I did not think I would ever have a satisfying and rewarding career. 

Finding the Savior

At this point, I had given up on the idea  that I could have a successful and rewarding career. I just wanted peace with myself, with the world, and with my God. I did not know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, but I knew he was the Prince of Peace, and I knew that He was the only one who could give me the peace I so desperately needed.  So I went down on my knees in prayer.  I told Jesus I would do anything for Him if He would just give me peace of mind.  I told Him I would be a shoe shine boy if He would just give me pace of mind.  Then my life really began to change for the better.  About two weeks later, I got an interview and a job in my field, and I knew Jesus had heard my prayer, acted in my life and changed  my life for the better.  A couple of weeks later, I was shopping in  my favorite supermarket and picked up an Invitation to Listen Card, and was invited to listen to a Christian Radio Station.  I learned the truth at the station, as I was told that I could not possibly earn my salvation, but it could be given to me by God's Grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  This faith Gospel is based on John 3:16 in the New King James Version of the Bible .  This verse states that "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." To believe in the Lord Jesus Christ is to believe that He died for your sins, repent or turn away from your sins, and to live for Him and follow Him in everything you do in life.  I have found my salvation and peace in Jesus.

Jesus is Calling You

Jesus is making the same offer to you, as He wants to give you eternal life and transform you life. He loves you, He is your friend, and His greatest desire for you is to have eternal life in His Kingdom.  When I met Jesus, I thought He would hit me over the head for the sinful way I was living my life.  But, He did the exact opposite.  He said Peter, I love you and I have always loved you. When you were yet in sin, I still loved you, and I died for your sins.  just so you could have eternal life in my Kingdom.  What Jesus has done for me He wants to do for you.  You can start your relationship with Jesus right now.  Tell Him you want His gift of eternal life.  Tell him you want your sins to be cleansed by the blood of Christ, repent or turn away from your sins, and start living for Him.  Do everything in life the way Jesus wants you to do it.  Keep talking to Jesus, and invite Him into your life.  He will respond and your life will be transformed as you experience a peace and joy that you never had before. Start praying everyday, read your Bible, and join a Bible believing church.  Your life will be infinitely better than it is right now.           

The Sinners Prayer

A good  way to start your conversation and relationship with Jesus is with the sinners prayer.  Here is the latest edition of the sinners prayer.  "Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I ask for your forgiveness.  I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior."
