I grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts, got a degree in English from Rutgers, went to Swaziland (now Eswatini) in 1969 with the Peace Corps, met my wife Britta there, the daughter of Danish missionaries. We taught there for two years and for many years here at the Copenhagen International School while raised two great kids. The stories I’ve shared—whether fiction or nonfiction—are largely autobiographical. The nonfiction stories may sound like fiction, but that’s because whatever I write sounds like fiction. Even my grocery lists sound like fiction. One of them, I’m honored to say, won the nonfiction contest here at Storyhouse in 1925. I do have two books available on Amazon, Great Poems in a Pinch, which is about how I did my best to get my students not to hide behind the rubber tree when the word Poetry was mentioned, and The Face of My Friend, a coming-of-age novel, which is something like a guidebook for surviving adolescence.
