Sarah
Byron was born to Polish immigrants in the East End of London in
1911. Her parents owned a famous kosher restaurant in Whitechapel.
She grew up one of seven children and tells intricately detailed
stories of her youth, early womanhood, and love story in several
memoirs. She emigrated to America in 1968 after the untimely
death of her one true love and started writing in her late seventies.
She died aged 90 in 2001.
