My grandmother Cassie lived with us her whole life, she was sick all the time in her younger years she started taking seizers that left her very ill in life, so after papaw dies she moved in with us and us kids looked at her as a mother, she was always getting us out of trouble and taking up for us threw life.
As growing up with my mamma times were rough at times with her she would tell mom that we shouldn’t wear the things that we do and mom would have know other choice but to make us either wipe our makeup off or to change our cloths that we had on but we loved her so very much, but times got really bad when summer came us kids wanted to get out and do things go to the beach or go fishing that we could not do if we did one of us was to stay home with her we never got to do things as a family because one of us was always home know matter what we did things didn’t seem the way they should.
So as time passed on we all agreed that mamma should be put in a nursing home so we did that and things were good but still she wasn’t  with us and she was part of the family we missed her so bad, we would go and see her every week end but still it did feel right leaving her there and knowing that she wanted to be with us I think all of us kids would cry the whole way home we wanted her back home with us and sure enough that’s what dad did he went and got his mother and brought our second mother home, know matter how bad it got with her us kids did not complain about her.
I remember when we wanted money she would give us a dollar and she would tell us things to get her and she would always say you all get you some candy also to her you could get a bag of grocery’s with just a dollar she had all timers and didn’t know the difference any more but we always went alone with her to make her feel good and not to get her after us.
She was a church going person and us kids always went with her she would sing I Fly Away she loved that song more than anything, our mamma was a fighter threw life she always seemed to make it threw anything that life had to offer her, even her with all timers and taking seizers she still wanted to do things wash the dishes she loved to do but mom had to stay really close to her in case she had one mom could be there to help her not get help.
Granny really was a hand full, she go to us all at times but she would also make us laughing, she would run us threw the house if she seen we was not minding mom with a broom we would take off running and then finally it would  turn in to a game to us kids.
And no she never colt us and if she did we often wonder if she would have really took the broom to us.
Time passed on she was getting older and really taking more seizers time go trough but mom was always there bye her side know matter what she loved mom as if she was her mother.
Summer of 1994 came all four of us kids were married and had left home but we would take time to go see her at moms, our older sister Cathy had a son and that was mammas baby and again she would sing the same song to him and we would all gather around her to hear her sing and shortly a big tear would be in ours eyes it brought time back to were we was children and we did miss those days very much.
That summer of 94 mamma was so ill we all faced up to the fact that she wouldn’t be here in this world much longer, it was like every morning we would wait bye the phone just to hear those words that she has passed on, So on a beautiful day of march of 1994 mom calls and tells me that she is so ill and has called a ambulance to come get her I got in the car and went to moms, and bye the look on grannies face in her eyes it was like she was saying I have lived my life I can’t hold on no more its my time to go, all she could do was look at us kids and couldn’t even talk to us but we know she was telling us she loved us.
The next day we all go to the hospital because the doctor tells mom to call the family that she could go anytime, we get there in time to talk to her and to tell her how much we love her sure it was so hard she was like a mom to us four kids it was like saying good bye to our mother, we all get around her bed words could not explain the pain we all felt.
I am on one side of her bed and my sister is on the other side and she took a deep breath and we knew that was her last, it was like my whole life passed before my eyes, this woman was my mother like and it wouldn’t be the same with out her.
Days went on and it finally hits me that my granny would never see me again and it hit me so hard I just broke down in tears everything was going threw my head she would never see my children I would never hear her sing at this time I find out I am pregnant and I would have loved for her to see my child, but I know that one day I will see her again, she is up in heaven with the angels and I could never say good bye to her because I know one day I will see her again.
