My Grandad:

My grandad has dementia. Sometimes he forgets things like what day it is or even that he put his hat on his head. It can be confusing for him, but I try to be patient and help him remember. Even though his memory isn’t the same as before, he still loves to tell stories with me, and I love him just the same.

My Grandma:

My grandma has diabetes and has had cancer twice. Sometimes she has to sit down and eat snacks or take insulin when her blood sugar is high. She’s still awesome and really caring. One time, we had to call an ambulance when she collapsed in Edinburgh, but she’s okay now. I worry about her often, but I know she’s strong and can handle it on her own. She’s still the perfect grandma for me.

My Mum:

Last year, my mum had stage one breast cancer. It was really scary for me because my dad often goes on work trips, so it was just me and her. I worried about her when I went to school because I didn’t want to leave her by herself. My mum tries really hard and makes sure we do lots of fun activities together, which always ends with us smiling and laughing. She always includes me and makes me feel loved.

My Dad:

My dad travels a lot for work and has ADHD. This means he’s always busy and needs things to do. When he’s away, I miss him a lot, so I always look forward to when we can spend time together. He’s really funny and always tries to make me laugh—even if it’s a bit embarrassing. He makes me feel very special.

My Sister:

My sister has dyslexia. This means that sometimes she struggles with reading and writing, so she can’t always help me with my spelling homework. Sometimes she writes words backwards, but that doesn’t stop her from trying her best. She always makes me chuckle, and I’m really proud of her because she’s doing great at Sheffield University, studying mechanical engineering.

Conclusion:

My family might have their quirks and challenges, but they’ve taught me so much about love, patience, and strength. I feel lucky to be part of such a caring and determined family. They inspire me every day to be kind, to stay strong, and to help others — and I hope that one day, I can make a difference in the world, just like they’ve made a difference in mine
